The Coin whortleberry (Vaccinium nummularia) belongs to Ericaceae (the Azalea family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to Bhutan, northern India, and Tibet. It grows at altitudes between 2700 and 3500 m above sea level. The round leaves are thick, leathery, and alternate. They have distinct reticulated veins and pale cilia. Narrow, urn-shaped, pink flowers are produced in the leaf axils. Flowering season is early summer.
