The Hybrid mullein (Verbascum x hybridum) belongs to Scrophulariaceae (the Figwort family). It is a biennial herb that is native to Portugal, Spain, France, Italy and Yugoslavia. It is a natural hybrid between the Verbascum pulverulentum and the Verbascum sinuatum. It grows in dry wastelands, meadows, and along roadsides, and is 60 to 120 cm tall. The stems are erect. From June to September, white, reddish-bronze, pink, or mauve flowers bloom in racemes at the top of the stem. Many garden varieties have been produced; the photo shows 'Southern Charm'.
