The smooth beggartick (Bidens laevis) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is an annual herb that is distributed from the eastern part of the United States to the south and southwest. This herb grows in wetlands and riverbanks, and is 30 to 90 cm high. The leaves are fan-shaped or lanceolate to linear lanceolate, the edges are serrated, and they are occasionally divided into deep segments pinnately. From July to October, the corymbs appear on the branches and yellow flower-heads bloom. In the photos, 3rd and 4th are horticultural varieties 'Yellow Cupid' grown with Takii, light yellow and white marginal variegated.
