The Baemoochae belongs to Brassicaceae (the Mustard family). It is an intergeneric hybrid between Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa) and Radish (Raphanus sativus). Baemoochae is not a genetically modified organism. It was bred in Korea by hybridizing Chinese cabbage cultivars "Jun Seung" as the mother and radish cultivars "Baek Kyoung" as the father. Compared with Chinese cabbage and radish, it has more protein, sugar and fiber content, mineral and vitamin. However, compared to Japanese radish leaf, it may be too many hairs for vegetables.
