わが国の本州、中部地方以西から四国、九州に分布しています。日当たりの良い山地に生えて、高さは２０〜５０センチほどになります。葉は奇数羽状複葉で、披針形の小葉が２〜３対あり、側脈が目立ちます。茎や葉の裏に棘があります。６月から７月ごろ、白色または淡紅色の大きな花を咲かせます。果実は長さ１５ミリほどの広楕円形で、赤く熟して食べられます。別名で「みやまいちご（深山苺）」とも呼ばれます。

バラ科キイチゴ属の落葉低木で、学名は Rubus illecebrosus。英名は Strawberry-raspberry。

The Strawberry-raspberry (Rubus illecebrosus) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a small deciduous tree that is distributed westward from Chubu district of Honshu to Shikoku and Kyushu of Japan. This tree grows in sunny mountains and can reach 20-50 cm in height. The leaves are odd-pinnate compound with 2-3 pairs of lanceolate leaflets. The lateral veins are conspicuous. This tree has spines on stems and abaxial sides of leaves. The white to pale pink flowers come in June through July. The fruits are broad-elliptic aggregates about 15 mm long, ripen red and edible.
