The sweetbush (Bebbia juncea) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a shrub that is distributed to the south-western United States and northern Mexico. This shrub grows in sandy washes and gravelly slopes of deserts, and can reach 60-150 cm in height. The stem is erect, much-branched and spreading. The leaves are linear to narrowly triangular, toothed and arranged in opposite. The flower-heads are discoid (disk flowers), yellow, borne singly on the many branches from spring to summer. The flowers have a sweet scent. The fruits are achenes, hairly and club-shaped.
