ブラジル南部のサンパウロ州、大西洋岸のセラドマル山脈に分布しています。熱帯雨林に生え、蔓性で匍匐して広がります。葉は大きくて「ぶどう（葡萄）」の葉に似ています。冬の終わりに、大きな集散花序をだし、小さな白い花を咲かせます。

シュウカイドウ科シュウカイドウ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Begonia convolvulacea。英名は Morning-glory begonia。

The Morning-glory begonia (Begonia convolvulacea) belongs to Begoniaceae (the Begonia family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is found in the Serrado Mar Mountains on the Atlantic coast in the state of Sao Paulo, southern Brazil. It grows in tropical rainforests and spreads as a creeping vine. The leaves are large and resemble the leaves of a grape. In late winter, it produces large cymes with small white flowers.
