中央アメリカのグアテマラが原産です。太平洋岸の乾燥地帯に生えます。茎は木質化して潅木状になり、濃緑色の心形の葉には白い細毛が生えて灰緑色に見えます。早春、長い花梗の先に集散花序をだし、芳香のあるピンク色を帯びた白色の花を咲かせます。

シュウカイドウ科シュウカイドウ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Begonia kellermanii。英名はありません。

The Begonia kellermanii belongs to Begoniaceae (the Begonia family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to Guatemala in Central America. It grows in arid areas along the Pacific coast. The dark green heart-shaped leaves have white fine hairs and appear gray-green. In early spring, it produces concentrated inflorescences at the end of long flower stalks and produces fragrant pinkish-white flowers.
