中央アメリカが原産です。高さは１．２〜２．４メートルほどになり、群落を形成します。葉は掌状に７〜１７裂し、小葉は披針形で鋸歯があります。葉の色は緑色または褐色、裏面は緑色です。夏に、芳香のある黄白色の花を咲かせます。

シュウカイドウ科シュウカイドウ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Begonia luxurians。英名は Palm-leaf begonia。

The palm-leaf begonia (Begonia luxurians) belongs to Begoniaceae (the Begonia family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to Central America. This shrub forms clumps and can reach 1.2-2.4 m in height. The leaves are divided into 7-17 lobes palmately with serrate lanceolate leaflets. They have green or brown surface and green rear surface. The yellowish-white scented flowers come in summer.
