パプアニューギニアが原産の木立性ベゴニアです。熱帯雨林の日陰の林床に生え、高さは６０センチほどになります。細い茎は赤色を帯び、支柱がないと５０センチほどの高さから自重で横に曲がります。葉は暗い緑色で長楕円形、深い切れ込みがあり、表面には暗い青銅色やピンク色の斑点があります。ピンク色の小さな花を咲かせます。

シュウカイドウ科シュウカイドウ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Begonia serratipetala。英名はありません。

The Begonia serratipetala belongs to Begoniaceae (the Begonia family). It is an evergreen shrub that is a woody begonia (cane type) native to Papua New Guinea. It grows on the shady forest floor in tropical rainforests and grows to a height of about 60 cm. The slender stems are reddish in color and bend sideways under their own weight from a height of about 50 cm without a support. The leaves are dark green, oblong, deeply lobed, with dark bronze or pink spots on the surface. It produces small pink flowers.
