中国の雲南省およびインド北東部、インドシナ半島北部に分布しています。標高６００〜８００メートルにある湿地帯の日陰の森に生え、高さは３０センチほどになります。根茎性ベゴニアです。葉は大きく、不揃いな卵形または広卵形をしています。３月ごろ、小さなピンク色の花をいっぱい咲かせます。中国名では「厚壁秋海棠」と呼ばれます。 |

The Begonia silletensis belongs to Begoniaceae (the Begonia family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed in Yunnan Province of China, northeastern India, and the northern Indochina Peninsula. It grows in shady forests in swampy areas at elevations of 600 to 800 m and grows to a height of 30 cm. It is a rhizomatous begonia. It has large, irregularly ovate or broadly ovate leaves, and around March it produces a profusion of small, pink-colored flowers. The Chinese name for this plant is "厚壁秋海棠" (hou bi qiu haitang). |
