"Beni-koohone" (Nuphar japonicum f. rubrotinctum) belongs to Nymphaeaceae (the Waterlily family). It is a perennial herb that is a form of the Koo-hone which is distributed throughout Japan and the Korean Peninsula, and grows in clear ponds, swamps and streams. The yellow flower bloom on the columnar peduncle which rising above water, from June to September. The flower has petallike sepals, it changes from yellow to crimson in two to three days after flowering.
