わが国の本州および九州、それに朝鮮半島に分布しています。山地の日当たりの良い草地に生え、高さは３０〜８０センチになります。葉は卵形から楕円形で対生または互生し、縁にはまばらに鋸歯があります。９月から１０月ごろ、茎頂に複散房花序をだし、淡い紅色の花を咲かせます。花弁は５個、雄しべは１０個あります。

ベンケイソウ科ムラサキベンケイソウ属の多年草で、学名は Hylotelephium erythrostictum。英名はありません。

"Benkei-so" (Hylotelephium erythrostictum) belongs to Crassulaceae (the Orpine family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Honshu, Kyushu of Japan and the Korean Peninsula. This herb grows in sunny mountane grasslands and can reach 30-80 cm in height. The leaves are ovate to elliptic, opposite or alternate with coarsely-toothed edges. The compound corymbs are borne on the stem apices and bloom pale rose-pink flowers from September to October. The flower has 5 petals and 10 stamems.
