The Russian bergenia (Bergenia crassifolia var. pacifica) belongs to Saxifragaceae (the Saxifrage family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in Russia's Far East. It grows in mixed coniferous forests at elevations of 500 to 1800 m, along forest edges, in shrub zones, and on slopes, reaching a height of about 30 cm. The leaves are broadly ovate or obovate and dark green. From winter to spring, pink flowers bloom at the tips of branched stems.
