インドが原産です。葉はハート型で、細かい毛が密生し、蔓は長く伸びて木質化します。花序に、直径８センチほどの淡青紫色の花を一年中咲かせます。属名は、スウェーデンの植物学者ツンベルグに因むそうです。

キツネノマゴ科ツンベルギア属の蔓性常緑多年草で、学名は Thunbergia grandiflora。英名は Bengal clock vine。

The Bengal clock vine (Thunbergia grandiflora) belongs to Acanthaceae (the Acanthus family). It is an evergreen vine that is native to India. The leaves are heart-shaped with fine dense hairs. The stems spread long and they are lignified. The pale bluish-purple, about 8 cm across flowers bloom in the clusters throughout most of the year. The genus name is nemed for Thunberg who was Swedish botanist.
