The bignay (Antidesma bunius) belongs to Euphorbiaceae (the Spurge family). It is a small evergreen tree that is native to the Malay Peninsula and India. This tree can reach about 6 m in height. Leaves are large, dark green, elliptic, glossy and alternate. Small non-petaled flowers come on the tips of twig and axils. This tree is dioecious, though the female plant usually can bear fruits by itself. Fruits are round to ovate and ripen magenta. They are processed to jam, jelly, wine and so on.
