中央アメリカのコスタリカが原産です。熱帯雨林の低山帯に生え、はじめは着生して、その後地上に根をおろします。高さは１２メートルほどになり、葉は楕円形から倒卵形で、十字対生します。枝先に６弁の真っ白な花を咲かせます。中央に丸く並んだ黄色い１２個の雄しべが目立ちます。

ノボタン科ブラケア属の常緑低木で、学名は Blakea gracilis。英名はありません。

The Blakea gracilis belongs to Melastmataceae (the Melastome family). It is a small evergreen tree that is native to Costa Rica in Central America. It grows in the low mountains of tropical rainforests, first as an epiphyte and then rooting to the ground. It grows to about 12 m tall. The leaves are elliptic to obovate and grow in cross-shaped. It produces pure white flowers with six petals at the ends of its branches. The 12 yellow stamens, arranged in a circle in the center, are conspicuous.
