ヒリュウシダ属は熱帯地方に４０種ほどが分布しています。本種はニューカレドニアが原産です。茎が直立して１メートル以上になる木性シダで、茎の上部から葉が叢生します。葉は単羽状複葉で、葉の縁が波打ちます。別名で、旧属名の「ロマリア」と呼ばれることがあります。

The Dwarf tree fern (Blechnum gibbum) belongs to the Blechnaceae family. Blechnum is a genus of about 40 species occur in tropical area. This speceis is an evergreen perennial fern that is native to New Caledonia. This is a tree fern, erect stems can reach up to 1 m in height. Leaves are pinnate compounds with waved edges, and crowding on the terminal stem. Dwarf tree fern is also called previous genus Lomaria.
