The Blue Atlas cedar (Cedrus atlantica cv. Glauca) belongs to Pinaceae (the Pine family). It is a tall evergreen tree that is a cultivar of the "Atlas cedar" (Cedrus atlantica), which is native to northern Africa. It grows quickly, reaching a height of 18 to 30 m. When young, the tree has a stubby, crevice-like form, but when old, it has a flat-topped, spreading pyramid shape. The silvery blue-green leaves are needle-like and grow in bunches, and are thicker and sturdier than those of other Himalayan cedars. The fruit is barrel-shaped and erect.
