ブラジル南部からウルグアイ、アルゼンチンに分布しています。沼や湿地に生え、高さは１００〜１２０センチほどになります。葉は長楕円状披針形で、縁には鋸歯があります。５月から１１月ごろ、茎の先の輪状集散花序に、スカイブルーの花を咲かせます。下唇には、受粉のために虫を導く白い蜜標があります。

シソ科アキギリ属の多年草で、学名は Salvia uliginosa。英名は Bog sage。

The bog sage (Salvia uliginosa) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from southern Brazil to Uruguay, Argentina. This herb grows in bogs or marshes and can reach 100-120 cm in height. The leaves are oblong-lanceolate with toothed edges. The annular cymes are borne on the stem apices and bloom sky-blue flowers from May to November. The flowers have white nectar guides on the lower lips.
