ぼたんづる (牡丹蔓)

わが国の本州から四国・九州、それに朝鮮半島や中国に分布しています。日当たりのよい野原や道端、林縁などに生えます。葉は１回３出複葉で柄があり、対生します。８月から９月ごろ、茎の先端や葉腋に短い円錐花序をつけ、白い花を咲かせます。４個の花弁のように見えるのは萼片です。花後は渦巻き形の果序となります。和名は、葉のかたちが「ぼたん（牡丹）」に似ていることから。 |

キンポウゲ科センニンソウ属の落葉蔓性木本で、学名は Clematis apiifolia。英名はありません。 |

"Botan-zuru" (Clematis apiifolia) belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is a deciduous woody vine that is native to Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu of Japan, as well as the Korean Peninsula and China. This vine grows in sunny fields, roadsides and forest edges. The leaves are trifoliate with petioles, and arranged in opposite. The short panicles are borne in the terminal stems and axils, and the white flowers bloom from August to September. The four sepals are petaloid. Following bloom, the convoluted fruit-clusters will be borne. The Japanese name is because the shape of the leaves resembles "peony". |
