The crown brodiaea (Brodiaea coronaria) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is native to western North America; from British Columbia to northern California. This herb grows in mountains and grasslands, and it can reach 10-25 cm in height. The leaves are 1-3 basal, grass-like, withering before bloom time. The flowers are lavender-blue, violet, or rose, vase-shaped, and bloom on an array of pedicels in early summer.
