ロシアのコーカサス地方からシベリア西部に分布しています。高さは３０〜４５センチになり、濃緑色の葉は心形で互生します。葉や茎は細毛に被われています。３月から６月ごろ、枝先や葉腋から巻散花序（サソリ形花序）をだし、「わすれなぐさ」に似た淡青色の花を咲かせます。写真の中２〜中４は園芸品種で、葉に銀白色の斑が入る「ジャックフロスト（cv. Jack Frost）」。

ムラサキ科ブルンネラ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Brunnera macrophylla。英名は Siberian bugloss、Brunnera。

The Siberian bugloss (Brunnera macrophylla) belongs to Boraginaceae (the Borage family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed from Caucasia to western Siberia. It can reach 30-45 cm in height, and the leaves are herat-shaped and alternate. The leaves and stems are covered with fine hairs. The scorpoid cymes are borne on the terminal branches and axiles, and bloom forget-me-not-like pale blue flowers. The 3rd to 5th photos are a variegated cultivar 'Jack Frost'.
