The Wild grape (Cyphostemma juttae) belongs to Vitaceae (the Grape family). It is an evergreen herb that is distributed in Namibia in southern Africa. It grows in hot, dry areas and can grow up to 2 m tall. Growth is slow and the tuber enlarges from conical to cylindrical. The surface of the stem is white with peeling bark, which reflects direct summer sunlight and prevents temperatures from rising. The leaves are large, ovate, and glossy, and are deciduous in winter. Inflorescences appear in summer and produce inconspicuous flowers. The berries ripen to a bright wine red in bunches similar to grapes.
