オーストラリア北部からニューギニア南部に分布しています。熱帯の湿地に生え、高さは５〜１５センチになります。茎は細く、葉は線形で腺毛が密生しています。腺毛から粘液をだし、昆虫を捕捉する食虫植物です。夏から秋にかけて、茎頂にピンク色から薄紫色の花を咲かせます。

ビブリス科ビブリス属の一年草または多年草で、学名は Byblis liniflora。英名は Rainbow plant、Northern byblis。

The rainbow plant (Byblis liniflora) belongs to the Byblidaceae family. It is an annual or perennial herbacious plant that is distributed north Australia and south New Guinea. This herb grows in the tropical marshes and can reach 5-15 cm in height. Stem is slender and leaves are linear with many glandular hairs. They secrete a sticky sap that attracts insects, and known as one of carnivorous plants. From summer to fall, pinkish or lavener flowers are seen on the terminal stems.
