The Fire barrel cactus (Ferocactus gracilis) belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is a barrel cactus that is found in northwestern Mexico, from Baja California to Sonora and Sinaloa. It grows in deserts and dry shrubland biome and grows up to 1.5 m tall. The stems are spherical to cylindrical, dark green, with 16 to 24 ribs, about 30 cm in diameter. There are about 7 to 13 central spines and 5 to 6 radial spines that are reddish brown. The flowers are red funnel-shaped and about 35 mm in diameter. The fruit is oblong, about 25 mm long, and ripens yellow.
