南太平洋のバヌアツが原産です。高さは３メートルほどになります。葉は長さ２０〜３０センチで心形から菱形、濃い緑色の地に白色と灰緑色の斑点があり、縁に粗い鋸歯があることもあります。花は茎生果で、新芽ではなく主茎や木質の幹につきます。 |

クワ科イチジク属の常緑または常緑または半落葉低木で、学名は Ficus aspera。英名は Clown fig、Mosaic fig。 |

The Clown fig (Ficus aspera) belongs to Moraceae (the Mulberry family). It is a small evergreen or semi-deciduous tree that is native to Vanuatu in the South Pacific. It grows to about 3 m tall. The leaves are 20-30 cm long, cordate to rhomboid in shape, dark green with white and gray-green spots, sometimes with coarse serrations on the edges. The flower is cauliflorous, which grows on the main stem or woody trunk, not on shoots. |
