The Clown fig (Ficus aspera) belongs to Moraceae (the Mulberry family). It is a small evergreen or semi-deciduous tree that is native to Vanuatu in the South Pacific. It grows to about 3 m tall. The leaves are 20-30 cm long, cordate to rhomboid in shape, dark green with white and gray-green spots, sometimes with coarse serrations on the edges. The flower is cauliflorous, which grows on the main stem or woody trunk, not on shoots.
