南太平洋のフィージー諸島からトンガ諸島に分布しています。熱帯雨林に生え、高さは１０メートルほどになります。単幹で、長さ１．８メートルにもなる大きな団扇状の葉を広げます。葉腋から肉穂花序をだし、黄褐色の両性花を咲かせます。この植物園では「フィージーふとえくまでやし（太柄熊手椰子）」と表記されていました。

ヤシ科プリトカルディア属の常緑低木で、学名は Pritchardia pacifica。英名は Fiji fan palm。

The Fiji fan palm (Pritchardia pacifica) belongs to Arecaceae (the Palm family). It is a small evergreen tree that is distributed in the South Pacific from the Fiji Islands to the Tonga Islands. It grows in tropical rainforests and can grow up to 10 m tall. It has a single trunk and spreads large fan-shaped leaves up to 1.8 m long. It produces fleshy inflorescences from the leaf axils and produces yellowish-brown bisexual flowers. In this botanical garden, it was described as "太柄熊手椰子" (Fiji futoe-kumade-yashi).
