「くろゆり（黒百合）」と同じ仲間ですが、この属の中でもっとも美しいということで、学名に「帝王の」がつけられました。和名を「ようらくゆり（瓔珞百合）」といいますが、瓔珞とは、仏具で釣り鐘型をした飾りのことです。 |

ユリ科バイモ属の多年草で、学名は Fritillaria imperialis。英名は Checker lily。 |

The Checker lily (Fritillaria imperialis) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is belongs to the same family as the Kamchatka lily, it is considered the most beautiful within this genus, hence the addition of "imperial" to its scientific name. Its Japanese name is "Yoraku-yuri", where "yoraku" refers to the bell-shaped ornament found on Buddhist altar fittings. |
