わが国の本州、中部地方以西から四国、九州それに朝鮮半島や中国に分布している「なわしろぐみ（苗代茱萸）」の園芸品種です。長楕円形の葉に黄白色の斑が入り、常緑なので生垣などに利用されます。１０月ごろ、葉腋に淡い黄白色の花を咲かせます。 |

グミ科グミ属の常緑低木で、学名は Elaeagnus pungens cv. Variegata。英名は Variegated elaeagnus。 |

The Variegated elaeagnus (Elaeagnus pungens cv. Variegata) belongs to Elaeagnaceae (the Oleaster family). It is an evergreen small tree that is a garden variety of "Spotted elaeagnus", which is distributed from the Chubu region of Honshu westward to Shikoku, Kyushu in Japan, the Korean Peninsula, and China. It has oblong leaves with yellowish-white spots and is evergreen, so it is used for hedges and other purposes. It produces pale yellowish-white flowers in the axils of its leaves around October. |
