「あかしょうま」の変種で、わが国の本州、富士山周辺と箱根山に分布しています。山地の草原や岩場に生え、高さは２０〜４０センチになります。茎は赤紫色を帯びます。葉は３回３出複葉で、小葉の縁には重鋸歯があります。６月から７月ごろ、長い花茎をのばし、複総状花序に、白色の花をいっぱい咲かせます。

ユキノシタ科チダケサシ属の多年草で、学名は Astilbe thunbergii var. fujisanensis。英名はありません。

"Fuji-aka-shoma" (Astilbe thunbergii var. fujisanensis) belongs to Saxifragaceae (the Saxifrage family). It is a variety of "Aka-shoma" (Astilbe thunbergii var. thunbergii) and distributed around Mt. Fuji and Mt. Hakone in Honshu. This herb grows in montane grasslands and rocky places, and can reach 20-40 cm in height. The stems are tinged magenta. The leaves are triternate compound, and the leaflets have double-serrated margins. The long flowering stalks are borne and bloom numerous white flowers in the compound racemes from June to July.
