The "Futatsu-kijino-o" (Plagiogyria x sessilifolia) belongs to the family Plagiogyriaceae. It is an evergreen fern that is distributed from the Kanto region of Honshu west to Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan, as well as in Taiwan, the Korean Peninsula, and China. It is an interspecific hybrid between "Kijino-o-shida" (Plagiogyria japonica) and "Oo-kijino-o" (Plagiogyria euphlebia) and can be seen rarely where the presumptive mother species grows mixed. The leaves are dimorphic. The sterile frond is dark green, shiny, and softly leathery. The lower pinna is stipitate and not curved into a sickle. The pinnae of the fertile frond are linear and stipitate. The sorus is long along the midrib and withers when ripe.
