The "Fuji-kuma-warabi" (Dryopteris x fujipedis) belongs to the family Dryopteridaceae. It is an evergreen fern that is distributed in the Chubu and Kinki regions of Honshu, Honshu of Japan. It is an interspecific hybrid between "O-shida" (Dryopteris crassirhizoma) and "Kuma-warabi" (Dryopteris lacera). It grows very rarely on the forest floor in mountainous areas. The leaves are bipinnate compound, bright green to green, slightly shiny, and have a hard, grassy texture. The base of the leaf stalk is densely covered in shiny brown scales. The sorus is located only on the upper part of the leaf blade, between the midrib and the margin of the pinnules.
