わが国の本州、中部地方以北から北海道、それに朝鮮半島や中国に分布しています。亜高山帯から高山帯の草地に生え、高さは３０〜１００センチになります。葉は披針形で茎の下部に１〜３段輪生し、上部では疎らに互生します。７月から９月ごろ、茎の先に橙赤色の花を１〜数個咲かせます。やや下向きにつき、花披片は反り返ります。花披片に濃紅色の斑点がないのが特徴です。

ユリ科ユリ属の多年草で、学名は Lilium medeoloides f. immaculatum。英名はありません。

"Funashi-kuruma-yuri" (Lilium medeoloides f. immaculatum) belongs to Liliaceae (The Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed northward from Chubu district of Honshu to Hokkaido of Japan, the Korean Peninsula and China. This herb grows in subalpine to alpine grasslands and can reach 30-100 cm in height. The leaves are lanceolate, whorled at the underneath and sparcely alternate at the upper stem. The one to several reddish-orange flowers come in July through September. They bloom descending and the tepals are recurving. It is defined that the tepals don't have dark ponceau mottles.
