The "Fuji-oshida" (Dryopteris x watanabei) belongs to the family Dryopteridaceae. It is an evergreen fern that is distributed in the Kinki region and northwards on Honshu, Japan. It is an interspecific hybrid between "O-shida" (Dryopteris crassirhizoma) and "O-kuma-warabi" (Dryopteris uniformis). It grows rarely on the forest floor in mountainous areas. The leaves are bipinnate compound, bright green to green, slightly shiny, and have a hard, grassy texture. The base of the leaf stalk is densely covered with glossy brown-red scales. The sorus is attached to the midrib of the pinnule and the margin, almost to the upper half of the leaf blade.
