The "Futari-shizuka" (Chloranthus serratus) belongs to Myrsinaceae (the Myrsine family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed to Japan, as well as the Korean Peninsula and China. The herb grows in montane wet forests and can reach 30-60 cm in height. The leaves are elliptic and decussate. The several spikes are borne and bloom white flowers from April to June. The flower is non-petaled and has conspicuous white stamens. The Japanese name is derived from the song "Futari Shizuka", in which the two dancers, the spirit of Shizuka Gozen and Natsumi-onna, dance together. In Chinese, it is called "及已" (ji ji).
