わが国の各地をはじめ、朝鮮半島から中国、ユーラシア大陸、北アメリカに広く布しています。池や沼地に群生し、高さは８０〜２００センチになります。茎は黄緑色の円筒形で、葉はふつう葉鞘だけです。７月から９月ごろ、茎の先端に不揃いな花序をだし、枝先に黄褐色の小穂をつけます。 |

カヤツリグサ科ホタルイ属の多年草で、学名は Scirpus tabernaemontani。英名は Softstem bulrush。 |

The softstem bulrush (Scirpus tabernaemontani) belongs to Cyperaceae (the Sedge family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Japan, the Korean Peninsula, China, Eurasian Continent and North America. This herb grows gregariously in ponds and swamps, and it can reach 80-200 cm in height. The stem is yellowish-green, cylindric and bears sheaths. The yellowish-brown spikelets are borne atop of irregular clustes from July to September. |
