The variegated lilyturf (Liriope platyphylla cv. Variegata) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is an evergreen perennial plant that is a gardening variety of the big blue lilytuft which is distrbuted to Kanto region of Honshu west to Shikoku, Kyushu, as well as Taiwan, the Korean Peninsula and China. The leaves are linear to linear-lanceolate, yellow marginal variegation, slightly wider than the big blue lilytuft and overlap with the root. It develops a spike and bloom magenta flowers from August to October. The fruit is seed capsule, its peel falls before ripening, black violet seeds are exposed and looks like fruits.
