Habenaria medusa belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to south-eastern Asia; Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Java, Sumatra, Sulawesi and Borneo. This herb grows in rainforest at elevations around 600 m. The many, white flowers bloom from spring to summer. The petals are highly divided into lancelated segments. The specific epithet is named after Medusa that is a mythical monster with snakes on the head.
