わが国の本州、千葉県から静岡県に分布している「いそぎく（磯菊）」と栽培されている「いえぎく（家菊）」との交雑種です。高さは４０〜６０センチになります。葉は楕円形から倒楕円形で３〜５浅裂し、基部はくさび形です。裏面は白色のビロード毛で被われています。１１月ごろ、小さな白色の舌状花がつく頭花を咲かせます。

キク科キク属の多年草で、学名は Chrysanthemum x marginatum。英名はありません。

The "Hana-iso-giku" (Chrysanthemum x marginatum) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is a hybrid between "Iso-giku" (Chrysanthemum pacificum) and "Kiku" (Chrysanthemum grandiflorum). This herb can reach 40-60 cm in height. The leaves are elliptic to obelliptic and 3-5 lobate with cuneatic bases. The rear surfaces of leaves are covered with white velvety hairs. The flower heads with samll white ray flowers in November.
