The Nippon daisy (Nipponanthemum nipponicum) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the Pacific Ocean Side of Honshu, northward from Ibaraki Prefecture to Aomori Prefecture in Japan. This herb grows on sunny cliffs and gravelly beaches, and it can reach 50-80 cm in height. The leaves are spatulate with wavy serration and arranged in alternated at the top branches. They are sessile. The white flower-heads bloom atop of long peduncles from September to November.
