"Hama-nigana" (Ixeris repens) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed not only in various parts of Japan, but also in the Korean Peninsula, Taiwan, China, Vietnam, and the Kamchatka Peninsula. It grows on the sandy shores and can reach 5-10 cm in height. This plant grows with long rhizomes. The leaves are triangular cordate and split into 3-5 lobes. From April to October, It blooms yellow flower heads with a diameter of 2 to 3 cm. The fruits are achene 6-7 mm long. Another name is "Hama-icho" in Japan, and in Taiwanese Chinese, it is called "濱剪刀股".
