わが国の本州、福島県から京都府にかけて分布しています。谷沿いの林内の湿地に生え、高さは５〜１０センチになります。「しろばなねこのめそう」の変種で、母種に比べて毛が少なく、走出枝が暗紅色を帯びるのが特徴です。葉は扇形で、３〜７個の鋸歯があります。３月から４月ごろ、花茎を伸ばして白色の花を咲かせます。葯は暗紅色です。

ユキノシタ科ネコノメソウ属の多年草で、学名は Chrysosplenium album var. stamineum。英名はありません。

"Hana-nekonone" (Chrysosplenium album var. stamineum) belongs to Saxifragaceae (the Saxifrage family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed westward from Fukushima prefecture to Kyoto prefecture of Honshu. This herb grows in forest marshes along dales and can reach 5-10 cm in height. It is a variety of 'Shirobana-nekonome-so', defined by less hairs than a host species and dark rose-pink tinged stolons. The leaves are fan-shaped with 3-7 toothed edges. The stalks are borne and bloom white flowers from March to April. The anthers are dark rose-pink.
