はんげしょう (半夏生)

わが国の本州から四国・九州、それに朝鮮半島や中国、フィリピンに分布しています。湿地に生え、高さは５０〜１００センチになります。６月から８月ごろ、はじめは下垂し、あとで直立する花序をだし、白い花を咲かせます。花期になると、花序に近い葉の下半分が白く変化します。名前はこのことから「半化粧」、またその時期が夏至から１１日目の「半夏生」の頃にあたることから。 |

ドクダミ科ハンゲショウ属の多年草で、学名は Saururus chinensis。英名はありません。 |

"Hangesho" (Saururus chinensis) belongs to Saururaceae (the Lizard's-tailfamily). It is a perennial herb that is distributed westward from Honshu to Shikoku and Kyushu of Japan, as well as the Korean Peninsula, China and Philippine. This herb grows in marshes and can reach 50-100 cm in height. The clusters are borne and bloom white flowers from June to August. The halves of leaf-blades near clusters turn into white in flower season. |
