The capillary thread-moss (Bryum capillare) belongs to the Bryaceae family. It is a bryopsida (moss) that is distributed throughout Japan, as well as widely in the world. This moss grows on rocks and humic soils, and can reach 2-3 cm in height. The leaves are obovate, dark green to bottle green with acute tips. Iti s dioecious. The sporophytes are borne from spring to summer. They have red stalks about 3 cm long and the capsules are arranged atop of stalks.
