わが国の本州、関東地方南部と伊豆諸島に分布しています。「さわひよどり（沢鵯）」の海岸型変種です。海岸近くの岩場や草原に生え、高さは２０～５０センチになります。茎の上部は斜上します。葉は披針形で対生し、全体に毛が生えます。８月から１０月ごろ、茎先に散房花序をだし、白色から淡い赤紫色の頭花を咲かせます。ひとつの頭花には、５個の筒状花がつきます。果実は、白色の冠毛がある痩果です。

キク科ヒヨドリバナ属の多年草で、学名は Eupatorium lindleyanum var. yasushii。英名はありません。

The "Hama-sawa-hiyodori" (Eupatorium lindleyanum var. yasushii) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is native to southern Kanto district of Honshu and the Izu Islands. It is an oceanic variety of "Sawa-hiyodori". This herb grows on coastal rocky places and grasslands, and can reach 20-50 cmin height. The upper stems spread side-upward. The leaves are lanceolate, hairly and arranged in opposite. The corymbs are borne on the top of stems and the white to pale magenta flower-heads bloom from August to October. The flower-head consists of five tubular flowers. The fruits are achenes with white egrets.
