"Happo-takane-senburi" (Swertia tetrapetala var.happoensis) belongs to Gentianaceae (the Gentian family). It is an annual or a winter annual herb that is endemic to Happo-one in the Northern Alps, Chubu district of Honshu in Japan. It is a variety of "Takane-senburi". This herb grows in gravel grasslands on serpentine soils, and can reach 30-40 cm in height. The flowering clusters are borne at terminal stems and axils, and bloom pale purple to dark bluish purple flowers from July through September. The petals have dark bluish purple mottles. It is characterised by the short bracts measure a half to one third of petal's length.
