わが国の本州、関東地方南部に分布しています。「つるぼ（蔓穂）」の海岸型変種です。日当たりの良い海岸の草地に生えて、高さは２０〜４０センチになります。葉は線形で、母種に比べて幅広く厚いのが特徴です。９月から１０月ごろ、花茎を伸ばして総状花序をつけ、淡い紅紫色の花を咲かせます。

ユリ科ツルボ属の多年草で、学名は Scilla scilloides var. litoralis。英名はありません。

"Hama-tsurubo" (Scilla scilloides var. litoralis) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a coastal variety of "Tsurubo" (Scilla scilloides). It is a perennial herb that is native to southern Kanto district of Honshu. This herb grows in sunny coastal grasslands and can reach 20-40 cm in height. The leaves are linear, and defined by wider and thicker leaf blades than the host species. The raceme is borne on the flowering stalk, and the pale magenta flowers bloom from September to October.
