ヘリアンフォラ属には６種ほどがあり、南アメリカのベネズエラにあるギアナ高地にだけ分布しています。標高１０００〜３０００メートルのテプイ（テーブルマウンテン）と呼ばれる山頂平原に生え、独自の進化をとげた食虫植物です。葉が円筒に捕虫嚢を形成しています。葉の先端にあるのが蜜腺です。花茎を伸ばして、花弁のような萼片のある花を咲かせます。写真の種小名は不明です。

サラセニア科ヘリアンフォラ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Heliamphora sp.（属の総称）。英名は Sun pitcher。

The Sun pitcher (Heliamphora sp.) belongs to Sarraceniaceae (the Picher plant family). It is an evergreen perennial herb. The genus Heliamphora has about six species and is found only in the Guiana Highlands in Venezuela, South America. It is an insectivorous plant that has evolved uniquely, growing in the summit plains called Tepui (Table Mountain) at altitudes between 1000 and 3000 m. The leaves form insect sacs in cylinders. At the tip of the leaf is a nectar gland. The flower stalk grows to produce a flower with petal-like sepals. The specific epithet of the photos is unknown.
