ヘリオプシス (姫向日葵)

北アメリカが原産です。わが国へは明治時代の中頃に渡来しました。高さは５０〜１００センチになります。葉は卵形から長卵形でやや薄く、毛はなく、対生します。７月から９月ごろ、黄色から橙黄色の頭花を咲かせます。舌状花は８〜１５個あります。別名で「ひめひまわり（姫向日葵）」あるいは「きくいももどき（菊芋擬き）」と呼ばれます。 写真中１３・下は、園芸品種の「ゾンマーゾンネ（cv. Sommersonne）」。 |

キク科ヘリオプシス属の多年草で、学名は Heliopsis scabra (syn. Heliopsis helianthoides var. scabra)。英名は Rough heliopsis、Orange sunflower。 |

The Rough heliopsis (Heliopsis scabra) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is native to North America. It was introduced into Japan in the middle days of Meiji Era (1868-1912). This herb can reach 50-100 cm in height. The leaves are ovate to long-ovate, thinnish, hairless and arranged in opposite. The yellow to orange-yellow flower-heads bloom from July to September. The flower-head has 8-15 ray flowers. It is also known as "Hime-himawari" or "Kikuimo-modoki" in Japan. The 14th and bottom photos show the horticultural variety 'Sommersonne'. |
